“Grief Scatters”: The Poetics of Loss Without Elegy
“Grief is difficult to explain, to share, and to shake off the shoulders like the heavy blanket it can be. Poets have long sought to verbalize grief: to celebrate what’s been lost as well as to mourn through both elegy and ode,” writes Stacey Balkun. This workshop will celebrate and mourn the time we find ourselves living through.

Pamela Pierce
Pamela Pierce is an Assistant Professor at Oregon Health & Science University. In her work with the OHSU Library, she helps to create digital collections that elevate a range of stories, whether those tales are told through visual art, data, or scholarly research. Her teaching highlights the importance of empathy and the hope for a greater understanding of one another. Her work has been published in such places as the Journal of Creative Writing Studies and RBM: A Journal of Rare Books, Manuscripts, and Cultural Heritage.
