Has an experience or NWNMC Community of Practice discussion sparked a personal story that you want to further explore? Have you thought about sharing your health narrative more widely but aren’t sure where to start? If so, our special three-part series may be for you.
This summer, writer and journalist Rebecca Chamaa will share the nuts and bolts of getting your health narrative published. In three 75-minute sessions, you will build a solid plan for getting your story out there. In the first session, Rebecca will give an overview of what newspapers and magazines look for and how to generate ideas. The following week, you will learn how to write a pitch and approach editors. In the final session, you will bring ideas to the group and practice pitching them with other attendees.
This workshop will happen in three sessions – on August 23rd, August 30th, and September 6th from 6:00 pm – 7:15 pm.
The suggested donation for this series is $45 (sliding scale, lack of funds should not hinder participation). You need only register one time to have access to the series.

Facilitators
Rebecca Chamaa started writing about her mental health diagnosis in 2015. Since then, she has published in Glamour, Teen Vogue, Better Homes and Gardens, Real Simple, and Good Housekeeping, and she writes regularly for Business Insider, Woman Alive, and Hope Magazine. She teaches classes in San Diego on how to get published and is a student in the Narrative Medicine program at Columbia University.
