Community of Practice

monthly narrative medicine workshops

squiggle-cop-facilitate

Join us for our regular Community of Practice. These informal gatherings are open to all. Together, we develop our narrative skills—the ability to listen, absorb, and be moved to action by stories of illness and wellness. Events are held monthly in Portland and Seattle. We gather to read a short text, discuss, write in response, and share, if we choose. All participants need to bring is a pen and paper.

Together Well REVISION Workshop

In this 90 minute workshop, participants will come prepared to work on a previous draft of writing that could be contributed to Together Well, a space for stories about health and healthcare in the pandemic. The draft could be something started in one of our previous Together Well workshops (October or December), or something started outside of the workshop.

Please bring 1-2 pages of content. Be prepared to share your own writing, and receive the writing of others in a small group setting. The goal of this session is to nurture a draft into a final product to be submitted for the Together Well project.

In this workshop participants will be asked to read, write, and discuss. If you require an accommodation, please contact NWNMC at nwnmc.pdx@gmail.com

Facilitator Bio

Invitation to Facilitate

A rotating group of facilitators create and lead our monthly workshops. Each focuses on a specific skill or thematic exploration that expands our narrative medicine practice and all come with individual interests and a unique point of view. If you’d like to lead a workshop, we’d love to hear from you!

Curious about what we’ve done in the past?

The Community of Practice has been meeting mostly monthly since February 2017. Check out our archives to learn more about what we’ve done together.
