The Northwest Narrative Medicine Collaborative began in 2015 when founding members, Elizabeth Lahti and April Brenneman, discovered a shared vision: bringing health care providers and patients together to better understand, appreciate and collaborate in health and illness through narrative.
We are now a diverse group who have joined together in a grass roots effort to grow the Northwest Narrative Medicine Collaborative to foster greater interprofessional and interpersonal communication, understanding and collaboration.
Our passion is to engage in conversation, create an inclusive community and explore the many forms of narrative as it pertains to health, illness and care taking.
Our mission is to bring a diverse group of interprofessional health care providers, students, academics, artists, patients and caregivers together to build skills in narrative competence: the ability to recognize, listen to and be moved to action by the stories of others.
